On December 9, 2016 Senate Judiciary Chairman Greg Steube, R-Sarasota, introduced a measure that would allow the more than 1.67 million Floridians with concealed-weapons licenses to openly carry handguns.
How many states allow Open Carry?
Florida is one of only five states that does not allow the open carry of handguns. Only Florida, Illinois, New York, California, and South Carolina generally ban open carry.
30 States do not require any license to carry unconcealed and 15 states allow carry licensees/permit holders to chose to carry openly or concealed at their discretion.
Steube’s bill will also expand the places where people will be able to carry guns with their concealed-weapons license.
